Tecnam purchases CAG

On Tuesday June 10th Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam, Srl purchased Composite Aeronautic Group. CAG is known in the US for their production of the Toxo.

Although Tecnam is already in the process of expanding its capacity, due to its significant growth and worldwide success it still requires more space for expansion along with enhanced access to additional technologies. CAG provided both. Tecnam expects to utilize production at the CAG facility to double their current production of 2 seat aircraft of more than 300 light single engine aircraft per year to 600 light aircraft per year by the end of 2009. This will also release production space to meet the sizeable order book for the P2006T, a 4 place twin, which is currently in final certification with EASA and the FAA.

This acquisition comes as the design for a new aircraft is being completed by the Tecnam engineering group. The new plane will build on the existing Tecnam strengths of exceptional flight characteristics, high useful load, design flair and provide additional cabin space. This new aircraft will debut at Friedrichshafen in Europe and at Sun n Fun in the US in 2009.

The Eaglets Have Landed

June 8th, 2008

The first 2 production Eaglets landed at their new home in Bay Bridge, Maryland on Sunday, the 8th of June. Despite record breaking heat the planes immediately took back to the sky and continued to fly through out the day.

Tim Adelman, one of the owners of Chesapeake Sport Pilot was standing on the ramp eager to fly the plane. His comments afterward were, “We are very excited to have the first production Tecnam P92 Eaglet on the flight line.  We have been using the P92 Echo Super with extremely impressive results.  The durability and functionality made the Echo a school favorite.  Now the Eaglet, with the same superb flight characteristic and beautiful finish, has quickly won over the instructors and students.”

Heart of Virginia Aviation

Heart of Virginia Aviation and Tecnam Aircraft working through the Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society enable the resumption of the Virginia Department of Aviation Ambassadors Awards

Heart of Virginia Aviation Inc (HOVA), a highly respected full service FBO operating out of Hanover County and Farmville airports in Virginia and Tecnam Aircraft (Tecnam) a world leader in the conception, design and manufacture of Light Sport and other fully certified aircraft for the last 60 years, is pleased to announce that they have provided funding to the Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society (VAHS) to make a grant to the Virginia Department of Aviation thereby enabling the resumption of their very enable popular and innovative Aviation Ambassador Awards.

HOVA (www.flyhova.com), and Tecnam (www.tecnamaircraft.com) believe that Light Sport is going to be the catalyst that will help re-ignite the latent passion for aviation in the Commonwealth, and elsewhere.  So, when you combine some of the best facilities and services available in Hanover County airport (OFP) the widest range of Light Sport aircraft on the market (Tecnam) and add in the wealth of historical perspective represented by the VAHS, it makes perfect sense to work together to support the runaway success of the Virginia Department of Aviation’s Ambassador program.

HOVA and Tecnam spokesperson, Phil Solomon, puts it this way:
“In current economic conditions, with costs constantly on their way up and General Aviation under all sorts of pressure, we felt that a positive vote of confidence in the future of aviation in the Commonwealth was needed and what better way to give that vote than to enable a great scheme such as the Aviation Ambassador Awards to be continued.  As added incentives for participants, HOVA and Tecnam will offer all award winners a free flight in a state of the art Tecnam and the VAHS will donate a copy of their excellent publication, “Virginia Airports”, to each new Ambassador.  HOVA and Tecnam are really proud to be associated with such a respected body as the VAHS and to be able to do something positive for the future of aviation in Virginia.  We encourage everybody to come and see the newly upgraded facilities in Hanover County and catch a ride in one of our Tecnam Light Sports and see why we are so positive about the future of aviation in Virginia.”
